Three grades, three substrate structures

Chip size is the main lever you pull when specifying coco husk chips: it decides the air space, drainage speed, and texture a blend ends up with. All three grades ship as compressed 5 kg blocks or loose.

Small grade

4–8 mm coco husk chips

The finest of our three chip ranges: small cubes of coconut husk that distribute evenly through a blend and suit tighter substrate structures.

  • Finer-textured substrate blends where an even particle distribution matters
  • Smaller pots and containers where coarse chunks would dominate the volume
  • Blending with cocopeat to add structure without large air pockets
  • Growing-media recipes that call for a small, consistent chip fraction

Medium grade

4–12 mm coco husk chips

A balanced, general-purpose chip range that combines structure with moderate particle variation, the starting point for many potting and greenhouse blends.

  • Potting mixtures for containers of most common sizes
  • Nursery plants and container production
  • Ornamental plants that want structure without very coarse chunks
  • Greenhouse substrate blends and hydroponic media

Large grade

4–16 mm coco husk chips

Our coarsest chip range: chunky husk cubes that build open, fast-draining structures with large pore spaces for orchids, aroids, and coarse blends.

  • Orchid growing media, alone or blended
  • Aroids and other ornamentals that prefer chunky, airy mixes
  • Larger containers where coarse structure prevents compaction
  • Coarse fractions in greenhouse or hydroponic blends

Size is a starting point, not a prescription
