Coco Husk Chips for Potting Mix Production
A good potting mix balances water holding with air space. Coco husk chips are the fraction blenders reach for when a recipe needs structure that lasts the life of the plant.
Producers of potting and container mixes work with recipes: a base that holds moisture, fractions that create air space, and amendments that tune nutrition and pH. Coco husk chips sit in the structural column of that recipe. Mixed into a cocopeat- or compost-based mix, they hold open channels for air and drainage and resist the slumping that fine materials show over time.
Because the chips are screened into defined ranges (4–8 mm, 4–12 mm, and 4–16 mm), a blender can specify how coarse that structure should be for each product line: finer chips for houseplant and container lines, coarser chips for shrubs, patio pots, and specialty mixes.

Format and packing
Mix producers importing at container scale usually take compressed 5 kg blocks and loosen them into the blending line; smaller operations sometimes prefer loose chips that go straight into the hopper. Quotations can cover either route; confirm packing volumes and preparation requirements per the specification.
Worth knowing before you order
- Blend ratios are the buyer's recipe decision. The same chip grade behaves differently in peat, compost, and cocopeat bases.
- If your process is sensitive to fines, specify the acceptable dust and fiber share in your inquiry.
- Washing or buffering needs, moisture at intake, and EC/pH verification should be agreed per order rather than assumed.

What proportion of chips should a potting mix contain?
There is no universal ratio; it depends on the base material, the crop, the container size, and how the mix will be irrigated. Blenders typically trial ratios in steps and settle the recipe internally. We supply the chip fraction consistently so your recipe behaves the same batch to batch.
Can you supply a custom particle range for our line?
Our standard screened ranges are 4–8 mm, 4–12 mm, and 4–16 mm. If your line needs something different, describe it in your inquiry, and specifications can be adjusted or confirmed based on buyer requirements.
How is the material delivered for blending plants?
